Amul hikes milk prices by ₹2/LTR from August 17

Milk based company, Amul and Mother Dairy have increased the price of milk by 2 rupees per liter. This is the company’s second pay increase this year. New price will be charged from August 17th.

Amul Gold will be priced at Rs 31 for 500ml, Amul Taaza at Rs 25 for 500ml, Amul Shakti at Rs 28.1 for 500ml .An increase of Rs 2 per liter is a 4% increase in MRP, which is slightly lower than average inflation in food segment.

Initially this year, Amul raised prices for the products in February. Later on Amul Gold was increased to Rs.30 per 500ml, Amul Taza to Rs.24 per 500ml and Amul Shakti to Rs.27 per 500ml. This increase in price of milk is made due to overall increase in production cost and business operations. Livestock feed costs alone have increased by about 20 percent compared to last year, Amul said , “The rise in input costs, our member unions have also increased farmers’ prices in the range of 8-9 per cent over the previous year. ”

In March, Mother Dairy raised milk price by 2 rupees per liter in capital city of India, Delhi NCR (National Capital Region). Mother Dairy is one of the leading milk suppliers in the Delhi NCR market, with poly packs and vending machines sales over 3 million liters of milk each day. The company officially disclosed on Tuesday that it was “forced” to raise the price of liquid milk by 2 rupees per liter from 17 August 2022. The new prices apply to all milk variants. The price of full cream milk was Rs 61 per liter as of Wednesday, down from Rs 59 per liter.
