Apple might launch its first retail store in the country this year

India has witnessed an exceptionally good response on the online stores and the Apple marketshare in the smartphone market has been doubled to 4% and tends to launch it retail stores in the country in future.

The manufacturing of certain iPhone models have been started in the country. Apple is likely to open its first physical store in Mumbai this year, according to earlier reports. The CEO of Apple, Tim Cook told the analysts on the earnings call late on Wednesday that the online stores in third quarter have earned equal to the total sales in the entire first quarter.

“We are also going in there with retail stores in the future and so we look to that to be another great initiative, and we continue to develop the channel as well.” In February last year, Cook said that the company is set to open its first branded retail store in the country in 2021. “We don’t want somebody else to run the brand for us,” he told investors at the annual shareholder meeting.

Apple gets a controlled experience of its devices and services as it intends and designed them to be in the country.
Apple recorded its all-time high revenue that crossed $100 billion. On this Cook said, “If you take India for example, we doubled our business last quarter compared to a year ago but our absolute level of business there is still quite low relative to the size of the opportunity”.

The CEO also said the company is doing a number of things in India. The tech giant registered over 60% growth (year-on-year) in its India business in the full year 2020 while for the festive quarter, the growth was an impressive 100% (YoY).
