Australia beats England by 275 runs to go 2-0 up in the Ashes 2021

Australia beat England by 275 runs in the second Test in Adelaide to go 2-0 up in the Ashes. Marnus Labuchagne won the player of the match award for his brilliant knocks in both innings (103 and 51).

There was only one winner coming out of this test match after 5 days of wonderful cricket and it was Australia. England was determined to draw the second to back themselves in the series. England dealt a heavy blow at the end of day 4 of the test match when Starc removed England captain, With stokes on the crease, a draw was always on the cards considering the caliber of Ben Stokes. Australia meant business on day 5 as Mitchell Starc struck early in the day and this time it was Ollie Pope to go. Ben Stokes and Jos Buttler hung in there for a while until Nathan Lyon got the better of Stokes. England was still in the game, thanks to Chris Woakes and Jos Buttler who played over 20 overs. Chris Woakes was in fine form and hit a beautiful four off Jhye Richardson but the very next ball Richardson bowled a ripper to destroy England’s chances of a draw. Robinson contributed with the bat as well, he hung in there Jos Buttler who was a man on a mission. Sadly for him, he got out in the most bizarre fashion, he hit his own wicket, and that was when Australia knew they had it.

James Anderson knicked it to Cameron Green off Jhye Richardson. Jhye Richardson was the pick of the bowlers picking up his first fifer in test cricket. Starc and Lyon picked up two each and the debutant Michael Neser struck once.

England now has 6 days to recover from this massive defeat when they take on Australia in Melbourne in the 3rd test. Can England save The Ashes ? Or will Australia take an unassailable lead in the series?
