
On August 16, the list of nominees for the 2022 MTV Video Music Awards (VMA) was announced. The categories Group of the Year, Song of the Summer and Album of the Year were announced by the VMA on Friday. BTS received two more nominations in new categories. The K-pop group thanked ARMY for their “love and support” in a statement. The seven-member band has been nominated for Group of the Year and Song of the Summer, they shared the news on their official Twitter account.
The tweet read, “We are so excited to be nominated for “Group of the Year” and “Song of Summer” with “Left and Right (feat. Jung Kook of BTS)” at the 2022 #VMAs! Thank you so much for your love and support as always!”

Notably, BTS had won Group of the Year for the previous three years, continuing their winning streak. The K-pop group will be hosting artists like BLACKPINK, City Girls, Foo Fighters and more this year.
Before that, they were nominated for four awards, including Best K-pop Yet To Come. Best Choreography went to Permission to Dance, My Universe with Coldplay won Best Visual Effects and Minecraft won Best Metaverse Performance. On August 28, 2022, the VMAs will be televised live from the Prudential Center in New Jersey.
