BTS To Continue Serving as Seoul Tourism Ambassador For 6th Year

BTS will continue its activities as an honorary tourism ambassador for Seoul for 6 years. The Seoul Tourism Organization announced its global marketing plan for Seoul tourism content on the 18th and said, “We plan to shoot a promotional video for Seoul tourism in 2022 with BTS, the honorary tourism ambassador for Seoul.”

BTS has been acting as an honorary tourism ambassador for Seoul for 6 years since 2017. As BTS did not act as ambassadors for other local governments and countries, the publicity effect was significant.

In 2017, BTS promoted Seoul’s attractions such as Seoullo 7017, Hangang Park, and Jamsil Stadium under the theme of ‘You in Seoul like me’. In the same year, when the Seoul song ‘WITH SEOUL’ was released, the website server was down for over 3 hours.

Since then, he has introduced Seoul to the world by appearing in promotional videos for Seoul tourism every year, such as ‘My Seoul Playlist’ in 2018, ‘You in Seoul like me’ in 2019, and ‘See you in Seoul in 2020’.Released in September last year, ‘Eogi Young Tea Seoul Edition’ achieved 100 million views within 9 days of its release.

BTS has put a lot of effort into publicity by using Seoul’s landmarks, Gyeongbokgung Palace and World Cup Bridge, as a music video background or performance stage. However, last month, the group’s activities were suspended, and this year’s Seoul Tourism Ambassador’s activities became unclear.
RM of BTS said in a YouTube video in September of last year, “I didn’t think I would become an ambassador for five years in a row,” and said, “It’s very proud, wonderful, and glorious.”
