Byju lays off 1,000 employees over normal and WhatsApp calls

Byju is the most recent corporation to dismiss hundreds of employees, following Google. The edtech business already underwent a layoff procedure in October 2022, and the most recent round results in a 15% employment reduction. In addition to the 2,500 staff it cut off a few months ago, this affects about 1,000 individuals across departments.

In the most recent round, the corporation let go of 300 individuals from the engineering team, and the strength of the logistics team fell to 50%.

According to sources with information on the situation, the layoff process began in October. Also reportedly removed by the Byju were all the freshmen. The company decided to fire their employees over normal or WhatsApp calls because the emails sent by the company got leaked online.
