Team India comfortably won the first T20I match against WI but still, the team management and the captain are being questioned on their strategies. Surya Kumar Yadav who plays spinners well has been asked to open the innings and Rishabh Pant who opened with Rohit Sharma in the previous series has been seen in the middle order now. Fans feel they are changing the positions way too much ahead of the World Cup and it is unhealthy. Today, Bhuveneshwar Kumar was asked the reason behind the decision.
“What was the thought process behind sending Suryakumar Yadav to open especially when the team had opened with Pant and Hooda previously,” was the question put forward to Bhuvneshwar in the pre-match virtual press conference ahead of the second T20I.
“I really don’t know. All I know is that there must have been some thought process behind it. It surely wasn’t random. I’m sure whatever the coach and captain want to achieve something out of this. Honestly, I don’t know what exactly was the thought process behind it but I’m sure there must’ve been some deep thinking,” Bhuvneshwar Kumar said.
It will be interesting to see who opens today in the second T20I match against West Indies.
