Dale Vaz, the CTO of Swiggy, resigns; Madhusudan Rao will replace him

Dale Vaz resigned from his position as Swiggy’s chief technology officer (CTO) on Monday, April 3, and will begin serving in an advising capacity in May 2023, the company said.

In 2018, Swiggy hired Vaz, a graduate of the University of Massachusetts Amherst, to lead engineering and data science. He was made CTO in February 2020. Vaz worked as the group CTO for the food tech unicorn’s meat and alcohol business lines as well as Swiggy Food, Swiggy Instamart, Dineout, SuprDaily, Swiggy Genie, and Minis.

Vaz will be replaced as Swiggy’s CTO by Madhusudan Rao, senior vice president of consumer and fintech at the moment.

Rao joined Swiggy in 2018 and began working there as a vice president in charge of engineering at the food tech storefront division. In April 2021, he was upgraded to his current role.

The announcement follows Karthik Gurumurthy’s resignation to take a break as the leader of Swiggy’s grocery delivery vertical just a few days prior. Phani Kishan Addepalli, a co-founder of Swiggy, will succeed as CEO of Instamart.
