Elon Musk offers a Twitter poll to restore Donald Trump and unbanned users

Elon Musk has launched a poll asking Twitter users whether or not to reactivate the account of former president Trump. He used the Latin term ‘vox populi, vox Dei,’ which means “voice of the people, the voice of God.”

Elon Musk, the CEO of Twitter, asked the Twitterati on Saturday if they wanted former US President Donald Trump to return to the Twitter platform in a poll on the social media site. Surprisingly, 59% of respondents have indicated that they support restoring the previous President Trump’s account. It should be remembered that Musk launched the poll on November 19 at 6:17 AM IST. Over 121 thousand people have liked and retweeted his poll thus far.

Elon Musk cited the well-known Latin proverb “Vox Populi, Vox Dei,” which literally translates as “the voice of the people is the voice of the god,” to explain the motivation behind the poll.

However, users’ reactions to Musk’s poll were mixed.

Michael Saylor, an American businessman, asked, “With 116.6 million followers, your polls are starting to become statistically significant. What if Twitter had an “All Users” poll that you could push to every single Twitter account to find out what the entire network is thinking, with no particular adverse selection?”

Regarding Saylor’s remarks, Musk had a different opinion.

“When polls are about a significant question, even those who don’t follow me tend to hear about it. That said, I agree with the idea of an all-user poll. Should also be an all-user-by-country poll.” Musk said.

As the Twitter CEO had earlier announced, Twitter had restored the accounts of US comedian Kathy Griffin and academic Jordan Peterson. Furthermore, the satirical website Babylon Bee’s account was revived.

Additionally, Musk is working to revive Twitter’s Blue Tick, which he said will be relaunched on November 29 with verification following a brief suspension due to an abundance of spam.
