Facebook’s parent company, Meta, is working on a Twitter alternative

Less than two months after Elon Musk paid $44 billion for Twitter, concerns have been raised about the tech platform’s viability as a result of Musk’s decision to fire thousands of employees, begin changing the platform’s content policies, and declare bankruptcy may be an option for the company.

According to a New York Times investigation, Twitter’s rivals have recognized the upheaval there as a potential opportunity. Facebook and Instagram’s parent company, Meta, has held virtual brainstorming sessions with its staff to consider how to become the next Twitter.

In addition to workers at Meta, former Twitter employees have started working on what they believe may be the new Twitter. Together with Tumblr, other new companies like Post and specialized services like Mastodon and Hive Social have emerged.
