Earlier, men’s grooming was not given much importance. Back then, only grooming products like face wash, shaving cream was acceptable by society. But now with the evolving time society is accepting the fact that man too need grooming. The younger generation i.e. millennials and genZ have realized the importance of grooming. So, there are few young start-ups growing in this field like Beardo, Ustraa, The Man Company, Bombay Shaving have extended men’s grooming market in the last few years. They are flourishing at an unprecedented rate. According to the market research firm Nielson, 177 new male grooming brands or variants were being launched between April 2018 and March 2019. So, here are some of them.
Sporting a beard is very much famous these days and celebrities like Amitabh Bachchan, Ranveer Singh, Virat Kohli and even Prime Minister Narendra Modi too does that. Beardo is an Ahmedabad-based company which is a men’s grooming startup founded in 2016 by Seth with his childhood friend and business partner Ashutosh Valani. Before Beardo, they ran an online website portal “aaj ki team.com” which used to sell electronic gadgets online but in search of a space to create their own brand, the duo found the opportunity in men’s grooming and then grabbed it as fast as possible. They first launched their product Beardo oil and then Beardo wash. For expanding their business they roped in a Bollywood actor on the board as a faces of Beardo, KGF movie actor Yash should became Beardo Face for the year 2019-20. By March 2016, the company extended their business into the hair and body styling categories by introducing 6 new products.
Dollar Shave Club
It is the first internet brand and the subscription service provider of grooming products for men. It was founded in 2011 in the United States. They offer three levels of different membership plans for the users. The product catalog includes face moisturizer, face wash cream and other accessories.
Despite these two, there are also many other brands coming up as growing startups for men.
