Here are Top 5 politics based series on OTT platforms

The Hindi film industry has by and large neglected the subject of politics while considering it as a subject for filming movies. In a country where mainstream cinema never really got out of the grip of censor woes and protest groups.

Reportedly, there have been some politics based movies which have been banned from entering the cinemas and theaters. Kissable Kersey Kaa, Aandhi, Parzonia Firaaq and Inshallah Kashmir are mere examples for the above.

The streaming space have a luxury of having no direct censor board so they can portray politics in a fictional manner. While not many shows have directly tackled such themes, the numbers are growing.

Below listed are some of the politics based series which have been or are going to be released on the OTT platforms this year.

TANDAV
Superstars like Saif Ali Khan, Sunil Grover, Dimple Kapadia, Tigmanshu Dhulia, in Delhi, Kritika Kamra, Sarah Jane Dias, Sandhya Mridul, Annup Sonii and Hiten Tejwani. It is a story of politics which shows that at what extent people can go just to go in the pursuit of power. It will be launched on Amazon Prime Video on 15th of January.

DARK 7 WHITE
The political thriller is centred on the death of Sumeet Vyas’s Yudhveer Singh while he was on his way to becoming the Chief Minister, and a police officer (Jatin Sarna) joining the investigation. Also featuring Nidhi Singh, Monica Chaudhary, Taniya Kalra, Kunj Anand, and Rachit Bahal, the show is available on Zee5 and ALTBalaji.

QUEEN
It chronicles the life of Shakti Seshadri, a character who bears uncanny resemblance to the latest Tamil Nadu CM J.Jayalalithaa. The story tells that how a girl having poor financial condition but excellent academics becomes the state topper. Subsequently she also becomes a film star and then the youngest ever Chief Minister of her state. This series is available on MX Player.

CITY OF DREAMS
This is a story of Gaikwad family which erupts after an assassination of a political figure. The series have been starred with Atul Kulkarni and Priya Bapat and is available on Disney+ Hotstar. It is a thriller series which has 10 episodes helmed by Naresh Kukunoor.

MODI: JOURNEY OF A COMMON MAN
Mahesh Thakur, Darshan Jariwala, Ashish Sharma, and Makrand Deshpande topline the cast of the political drama that follows It portrays the life of the current Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s life from childhood to 2014, when he becomes Prime Minister of India. The show is available on Eros Now.
