How much would a Tesla car cost you in India? Have a look

Its hardly been two weeks since the CEO of Tesla, Elon Musk announced the arrival of the car in India, as he promised over his tweet. They might prepare some reasonable and affordable cards for the Indian middle class people whenever they start their production in the country.

This won’t be happening any time soon. For now, electric cars from Tesla will be at a premium price since it will be sold through the Completely Built Unit (CBU) route. When the electric cars will be launched in the Indian market is still not known but the markets predicts that it will be here by June.

In 2016 Musk announced that the first cars to be launched in India would be Model 3 Sedan. The automakers have now already finalised the plans to resume bookings and are expected to start delivery of Teslas in India by the end of the first quarter of 2021-22. These cars will be charged at a premium rate ranging between ₹55-60 lakhs as Tesla is yet to start manufacture here. Bookings for the Model 3 Sedan will once again resume for the second time from February 2021.

Vijay Shekhar the founder of Paytm, Sujayath Ali, CEO of Voonik and GOQii CEO, Vishal Gondal are some of the elite people who have already booked the Model 3 Sedan.

First rolled out in 2017 it emerged out as the world’s best selling electric car. Tesla will import these cars as a CBU. It will be able to charge itself in 15 minutes. The Model 3 will offer up to 500km of range and has a top speed of 162mph.

Tesla is vigorously exploring options to set up a manufacturing unit in the country and also intends to sell the cars directly to the customers without invloving any middle men. Even though the other Tesla models aren’t confirmed in the Indian market, if Model S and Model X are expected to launch in the country, it could cost somewhere around ₹1.5 crore and ₹2 crore, respectively
