Ind vs NZ: Ajaz Patel takes a 10 wicket haul, India bowls out NZ for 62 runs

India is in the driver’s seat here at Wankhede, Mumbai. New Zealand was very much in the game when Ajaz Patel got Wriddhiman Saha and Ravichandran Ashwin in quick succession early on Day 2 ( Saturday). Mayank Agarwal and Axar Patel powered India to cross the 300 runs mark. Mayank Agarwal’s wonderful knock was finally ended by Ajaz Patel. Axar Patel proved his worth with the bat yet again scoring 52 runs off 128 balls. Jayant Yadav did not fare well on his return scoring just 12 runs. Ajaz Patel, who is a Mumbai-born, was the stand-out bowler for the Kiwis claiming all the 10 wickets. He became the third bowler ever alongside Anil Kumble of India and Jim Laker of England to achieve this feat.

On the other side, New Zealand saw themselves bowled out for their lowest score in tests against India. New Zealand was bowled out for 62 runs. Mohammed Siraj bowled a brilliant spell to take out both the openers and bowled Ross Taylor with an absolute peach of a delivery. He finished with 3 for 19 and passed the baton to Ashwin who also bowled a brilliant spell to finish with 4 for 8. Axar Patel took a couple of wickets to add to New Zealand’s misery and Jayant Yadav took out Rachin Ravindra just before tea. India Bowlers were truly on fire today.

India had a chance to enforce follow on since they were 263 runs ahead but Virat Kohli wanted to fortify their lead.

Mayank Agarwal and Cheteshwar Pujara opened for India in the second Innings since Shubman Gill was hurt while fielding. Mayank is on 38 of 75 already and Pujara is on 29 off 51 who has lot to prove. India sits at the top with a massive 332 runs lead.
