Ind vs NZ: Mayank Agarwal scores a century as India finishes day 1 at 221-4

India won the toss and opted to bat in the second test, here at Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai. India finished the day at 221-4. Virat Kohli joined the team for the final test in place of the Indian Vice Captain Ajinkya Rahane. India made two more changes with Jayant Yadav in for Ravindra Jadeja who is making a comeback after 4 years and 10 months in International cricket and Mohammed Siraj in for Ishant Sharma. Rahane suffered a hamstring injury on Day 5 of the first test match in Kanpur, Jadeja has a swollen right forearm and Ishant Sharma is Injured too. Meanwhile, for New Zealand, Daryl Mitchell coming in for an injured Kane Williamson. Tom Latham will be leading the Kiwis in this test.

The proceedings started a little late due to the wet outfield. Shubman Gill and Mayank Agarwal Started well taking India to 80/0 after which India saw a collapse and was soon reduced to 80/3 in space of just sixteen balls.  Shubman Gill was not able to convert his innings into a big one yet again as Ajaz Patel got him at 44. Pujara and Kohli followed him registering a duck. Ajaz Patel bowled a brilliant spell to propel New Zealand. Although Kohli’s wicket raised controversies but India left all that behind to finish day 1 on a high. Mayank Agarwal is batting at 120 not out having faced 246 deliveries, he looks set for a big score.

Wriddhiman Saha came in a little late in the day to build a strong partnership with Mayank Agarwal of 61 runs scoring 25 runs off 53 balls. with Ravichandran Ashwin, Axar Patel, and Jayant Yadav still in the hut, India will eye a big score on day two in Wankhede, Mumbai.
