
Indian Cricket Team after completing their tour of England is now moving towards its bilateral series with West Indies. The England series consisted of 1 Re-scheduled Test from 2021, 3 T20s and 3 ODIs. The Test was won by England which led to the series ending in a draw. The T20 series went in India’s favor as India won the series by 2-1 and defeated the No 1 T20 team, Acc to ICC Ranking. The ODI Series was also won by Indian in the series decider which was also a nail biter.
India is touring West Indies for a 3 match ODI series and a 5 match T20 series which started on 22nd July and will go on till 7th August. BCCI excluded all the senior players of the Indian team like Virat Kohli , Rohit Sharma, and Jasprit Bumrah. Shikhar Dhawan was named the 7th Captain of India in 2022. The first ODI of the series was a nail biter and Indian had finally won the match by just 1 run.
In the 2nd ODI, the toss had been won by West Indies and they chose to bat first. The Indian team was chasing down the target. West Indies played exceptionally well in their first innings. They batted well and did not lose wickets and did not give the Indian bowlers any chance of taking wickets. Shai Hope’s century and Nicholas Pooran’s hard hitting skills in the end helped West Indies reach the score of 311/6. Shardul Thakur was the leading wicket taker from India’s side.
The Indian batting innings didn’t start off well as they lost Shikhar Dhawan early and later on quick wickets of Gill and SKY put India in a tough position. Shreyas and Sanju managed to bring up a partnership of 99 runs and later on Samson’s half century had India in a good position. But Samson, Hooda and Thakur were dismissed in quick successions. Then came in Axar Patel, all guns blazing and played a wonderful knock of 64 runs in 35 balls which included 5 sixes and 3 fours and got India over the line and helped India win the match by 2 wickets.
India is now won the series by 2-0 and will by eyeing a whitewash in the 3rd ODI which is on 27th July.
