India may finally have an alternative to WhatsApp

ZOHO founder and a recent recipient of Padma award, Shri Shridhar Vembu twitted that his team is working on a project named Arattai- a replacement for WhatsApp.

The acquisition of WhatsApp by Facebook has sent the whole world into a frenzy. All around the world people started questioning the integrity of the app (since Facebook is already under many allegations).

This was coupled with the introduction of applications like Signal, which gained instant fame and success. Other apps like Telegram has also seen a rapid increase in download from Google Play Store.

India now has a good shot at substituting WhatsApp with this new B2C app called Arattai (which in Tamil means chit-chat), developed by the ZOHO Corporation. The app has already crossed 50,000 downloads before its official launch!
