Indian Cricketer Mithali Raj turns 39: Take a look at her inspiring journey

Mithali Raj also known as lady Sachin as she has set some amazing records in history of cricket. She is very well known for being the highest run scorer in International Cricket.  India’s greatest female batter, Mithali Raj, has reached milestones aplenty in her storied international career spanning more than two decades. The woman with most runs in the game, and the only Indian captain – male or female – to have led the side to two 50-over World Cup finals. She is the highest run-scorer in women’s international cricket and the only female cricketer to surpass the 7,000 run mark in Woman’s One Day international matches, she is the first player to score seven consecutive 50s in ODIs and Raj also holds the record for most half-centuries in WODIs.  The only major distinction that eludes the incumbent ODI captain is the tag of a World Cup winner. In pursuit of that dream, Raj bowed out of T20Is in September 2019, as India’s highest run-scorer, having last led the side in the format during the 2016 T20 World Cup at home. Raj started creating milestones at a young age, at the tender age of 16 she scored an unbeatable 114 on ODI debut and soon she established herself as the backbone of India’s batting. Mithali Raj was born on 3 December 1982 in a Tamil family in Jodhpur, Rajasthan . Her father is Dorai Raj, who was an Airman (Warrant Officer) in the IAF. Raj started to play the game at age of 10. She started doing cricket coaching in her school days along with her elder brother. Playing for railways in the domestic competition, Raj began by playing with stars like Purnima Rau, Anjum Chopra and Anju Jain for Air India. This is how Mithali Raj began her journey, sure she faced innumerable challenges but she left no stone unturned and rest is the history which she created. On her birthday today, we wish her lots of Love, Health and Success.
