
Today was the day 1 of the IPL 2022 Mega Auctions and many players were bought and many went unsold. The unsold players can be bought on Day 2 which is tomorrow, 13th February. Many unexpected players got high bids and many were expected to get high but didn’t get the deserved price. A shocking thing happened today in the auction room where the auctioneer Hugh Edmeades had fallen down in the room while auctioning Wanindu Hasaranga. Later the news came that he is fine and Charu Sharma will be replacing him to continue the auctions. Read below to know the top picks on Day 1 of the auctions:
Ishan Kishan is the most expensive player until now as he was bought by Mumbai Indians in 15.25 Crores after a long bidding war against Punjab Kings, Gujrat Titans and Sunrisers Hyderabad. Deepak Chahar was also bought by its old team Chennai Super Kings in 14 Crores. Prasidh Krishna had impressed the bidders with his performance in the West Indies series last week which resulted to his price going up to 10 Crores which is pretty shocking. Shreya Iyer is one of the top picks as he was bought by Kolkata Knight Riders in 12.25 Crores and will probably be the captain of the team. Harshal Patel joined his previous team Royal Challengers Bangalore in 10.75 Crores but Yuzvendra Chahal was bought by Rajasthan Royals and RCB bid goodbye to him.
Krunal Pandya will be playing for Lucknow Supergiants and Hardik Pandya, his brother will be playing for Gujrat Titans and so both brothers will be opposite each other for the first time in the auctions. Krunal was bought by Lucknow in 8.25 Crores. Dewald Brewis, who is a South African batsman, played in the U19 World Cup this year, had gained massive popularity because of his playing style as people started to sa that he is ‘Baby AB’. He was bought by Mumbai Indians inn 3 Crores . Mr IPL, Suresh Raina, has gone unsold in this year’s auction and Chennai didn’t buy him. Lucknow Supergiants has also bought Jason Holder in 8.75 Crores in the second set of the day.
Shardul Thakur who played for Chennai previously was bought by Delhi Capitals in 10.75 Crores as he is excelling in his bowling skills and is taking crucial wickets of big batsmans and also is capable of smashing bowlers for big shots. Bhuvneshwar Kumar went back to Hyderabad in just 4.20 Crores which is a little low for him. Wanindu Hasaranga and Nichloas Pooran were each bought in 10.75 Crores by Bangalore and Hyderabad respectively. Washington Sundar managed to get 8.75 Crores from Hyderabad as he fit now from his injuries. In the uncapped player category Shah Rukh Khan was the most expensive as he was bought by Punjab Kings in 9 Crores.
