‘Trial by Fire,’ based on the Uphaar Cinema fire tragedy will start streaming on Netflix on 13 January 2023. The upcoming show inspired by the book ‘Trial by Fire’ is directed by Prashanth Nair.
The Uphaar Cinema tragedy claimed 59 lives. The book ‘Trial by Fire written by Neelam and Shekhar Krishnamoorthy, the couple who lost their two children to the tragedy is a best seller.
The role of Neelam and Shekhar is played by Rajashri Deshpande and Abhay Deol. The couple had fought a long legal battle for justice.
Prashanth Nair, the director of the show has said that the Krishnamoorthys have been an inspiration to many others in the country to fight for justice. He also thanked Netflix for being a courageous partner in telling the story.
‘Trial by Fire’ depicts the trials and tribulations of over twenty-four years, made by the couple in pursuit of justice. The series also throws light on the lives of other people whose lives had been affected by the tragedy. Rajesh Tailang, Ashish Vidyarthi, Anupam Kher, Ratna Pathak, Shilpa Shukla, and Shardul Bharadwaj are also part of the show.
