Max Verstappen beats Lewis Hamilton to his first F1 title in Abu Dhabi

Max Verstappen won the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix to win his first F1 championship title. Max certainly likes taking it to the end as he won it in the very last lap. It needed a miracle to beat the defending champion Lewis Hamilton who finished second and Carlo Sainz finished third.

Emotions were running wild in the Red Bull camp as Max Verstappen and Christian Horner cried after the race. It looked like Lewis Hamilton was gonna pocket his 8th championship title until Horner got into FIA’s heads and the safety car was gone. It was one lap of racing to decide the title and Max made it count as he overtook Lewis in a wild fashion and Max was too quick to shut the door.

Max added 26 points into his account to make it 395.5 points while Lewis finished with 387.5 points. It was surely one of the greatest rivalries in Formula One season and was quite an amazing season. Mercedes won the Constructors title for the 8th time on the trot. It was quite tough for Hamilton to digest the fact that he had lost it right at the end as he sat in his car after the race. Mercedes and Pundits are still looking for answers to the safety car decision that changed everything for Lewis Hamilton. Many believe that Masi, the FIA head, did it for making it more eventful.
