Prinyank Panchal to replace Rohit Sharma for the South African tour

Rohit Sharma has made his presence felt since India’s early exit from the ICC T20 World cup. He was named the T20 captain and soon he was named the captain of the Indian ODI team as well and the internet is buzzing after his Injury update.

India’s Test vice-captain Rohit Sharma was ruled out of the entire three-match Test series against South Africa as his left hamstring injury resurfaced during a training session in Mumbai where he also took a hit on his hand. Only last week, Rohit had replaced Ajinkya Rahane as the Vice-Captain of the Indian Test team.  BCCI announced that India A captain Prinyank Panchal will replace the Indian opener for the test series in South Africa.

Due to the outbreak of the new Covid-19 variant in South Africa, players will have to stay in a strict bio-bubble. The India tour of South Africa series is set to begin from December 26 and it will consist of three Tests and three ODI games. The first test will be played in Johannesburg. India has won a series against South Africa on their home soil. The last time India played South Africa was in 2017-2018 when they lost the series 2-1. Although India has won the  last 4 test matches against South Africa, making them the favorite to win the series for the first time on the South African turf.
