Reliance Q1 net profit rises 41℅, to ₹ 17995 crs (YOY)

Reliance Jio, the telecom giant, reported a net profit of USD 4,335 billion for the quarter ended June 30, 2022 (Q1FY22), up from PAT of USD 3,501 billion in the same period last year. This represents a growth of 23.82 percent. Q1 PAT is just marginally higher than the profit of Rs. 4173 crore in the fourth quarter of the previous year. Standalone revenue from operations for the period stood at ₹21,873 crore, up 21.56 percent from ₹17,994 crore in the first quarter of last year and 4.65 percent from ₹20,901 crore in the previous quarter.

The company’s services value stood at Rs 25,725 crore in Q1FY23, up 4.56 per cent from Rs 24,602 crore in Q4FY22 and up 21.41 per cent from Rs 21,189 crore in Q1FY22.

Total expenditure increased significantly from 13,313 million in Q1FY22 to 16,137 million in Q1FY23 and from 15,353 million in Q4FY22.

In Q1FY23, RJio’s margin increased to 50.1 percent from 47.9 percent in the same quarter of the previous year. However, the margin fell somewhat from 50.3 percent in 4Q2222.

The company’s net worth was around $2,02,132 million as of June 30, 2022, compared to $1,86,475 million in June 2021. The net worth was around $1,97,790 million at the end of March 2022 quarter.

RJio said in its audit report that “the company continues to invest in expanding wireless and fixed network capacity”.

RJio’s ARPU for the quarter was $175.7 per subscriber per month, growing a strong 27.0 percent year-over-year and 4.8 percent quarter-over-quarter. A higher level of interaction with the client led to APRU.

During the quarter, total data traffic increased 27.2 percent year over year to 25.9 billion GB. Additionally, total voice traffic increased 17.2 percent year-over-year to 1.25 trillion minutes during the quarter. Average monthly phone and data usage per subscriber rose to 20.8GB and 1,001 minutes during Q1FY23.
