
India will play the rescheduled fifth test match against England, tomorrow, on July 1st. India has the lead of 2-1 in the series and winning the last match would be memorable and historic. The team reached England several weeks ago and started practicing for the match, they have been batting in nets with high intensity. However, a couple of days back it was stated that skipper Rohit Sharma has been tested positive for COVID-19 and is quarantined till recovery.
The update is that Rohit Sharma hasn’t recovered yet and he will miss the last test of the series. Fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah has been named the captain in Rohit’s absence and wicketkeeper Rishabh Pant is named as the vice-captain.
” Rohit Sharma, Captain, Indian Cricket Team is ruled out of the rescheduled fifth Test against England to be played from Friday. Rohit underwent a RAT Test on Thursday morning and returned a positive result for COVID-19. The All-India Senior Selection Committee has named Jasprit Bumrah as captain for the upcoming Test and Rishabh Pant as his deputy”, stated the BCCI release.

Rohit is officially ruled out of the game and he is being monitored by the medical team of BCCI. Rahul Dravid was also seen in the pitch alongside Bumrah earlier today and it was already guessed by the fans. Reacting to this, Bumrah said “Dhoni, Virat, Rohit has contributed a lot to Indian cricket, they are legends of the game – I have tried to learn from everyone”.
