Rohit Sharma Tests Positive for Covid-19, Who will lead India if Rohit Fails to Recover?

India vs England series will start on 1st July.

The Indian Cricket Team is now in England for their Test, ODI and T20 Series there. There will be 1 Test which is a rescheduled Test from 2021 which was abandoned due to Covid-19. There will be 3 ODI and 3 T20s in the series. The Test is in Birmingham and it is a big match for both the teams. England has been winning the Pataudi Series Trophy since 2011.

In The Test Series in 2021, 4 matches took place successfully and India won 2 of them and England won 1 while the one remaining was drawn. India will try to win the match and if not that they will be okay with the match ending in a draw as they are leading the series by 2-1 and a win or draw will end in a series win for India.

A couple of days ago the Indian fans received a bad news that the Indian Captain Rohit Sharma has been tested Covid Positive and he might not be able to play the Test Match against England. This news was heartbreaking for the Indian fans as KL Rahul is injured and is out of the series and Rohit Sharma who might not play the Test match will make the Indian  team weak in front of the in form England’s Test team who have just whitewashed the New Zealnd team in a 3 match Test series.

Mayank Agarwal has been called up as  backup opener in case Rohit fails to play the match. Several speculations are being made on who will be the captain of the Indian test team in case Rohit Sharma fails to play. The current Vice-captain Jasprit Bumrah, former captain Virat Kohli and Wicket keeper Rishabh Pant are the three candidates who can be the captain of the India Test team in the absence of Rohit Sharma.

Fans want Virat KKohli to captain India for the last time and take India to the historic victory and expect this to be a perfect farewell to Virat Kohli’s captaincy, but it  is high unlikely for Virat to take back captaincy and the second highest chances are of Jasprit Bumrah who is the vice-captain of the team in absence of KL Rahul. Rishabh Pant is a wicket-keeper and thus its always better to have a captain as wicket-keeper so that he can that correct decisions. These all speculations have made the question trending on twitter.
