RRR becomes the first Indian movie to bag the Best Picture Nomination ay HCA Awards

RRR by SS Rajamouli is still making news! Following its success abroad, the film has now been nominated for Best Picture at the prestigious Hollywood Critics Association (HCA) Awards. RRR is now the first Indian movie to receive a nomination in the category.

Twice a year, in February and July, the Hollywood Critics Association bestows prizes known as the Midseason Awards. The organisation made the nominations for these prizes public on Wednesday. RRR, starring Ram Charan and Jr. NTR, is up against Hollywood heavyweights like Top Gun: Maverick, The Batman, Elvis, and The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent in the Best Picture category. On July 1st, the winners will be revealed.

The film will face off against nine Hollywood productions, including Robert Pattinson’s The Batman and Tom Cruise’s Top Gun Maverick.

Elvis, Cha Cha Real Smooth, The Northman, Everything Everywhere All At Once, The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent, Turning Red, and Marcel The Shell with Shoes On are among the other films nominated.

RRR, a fictionalised account of two revolutionaries in 1920s India, was directed by SS Rajamouli. The movie, in which Alia Bhatt and Ajay Devgn also acted, earned more over 1100 crore at the box office, making it one of the highest-grossing Indian movies ever. Following its global digital release on Netflix, the movie developed a cult following in the West. Many supporters, including some celebrities, have praised it on social media. Many have praised it, including actor Patton Oswalt and screenwriter C. Robert Cargill for Doctor Strange.
