Ruturaj Gaikwad: The next cricketing sensation

Ruturaj Dashrat Gaikwad was born on 31st January 1997 who plays for Maharashtra in domestic cricket and the Chennai Super Kings in the Indian Premier League. He made his international debut for the India cricket team against Sri Lanka in a T20 game in July 2021. He emerged as the highest run-scorer in the 2021 Indian Premier League tournament.

He is a top-order batsman who has a fluid technique and loves to play the big strokes as well. Ruturaj Gaikwad came under the radar in the 2016-17 Vijay Hazare Trophy when he was the third-highest run-scorer in the tournament. He has the ability to be solid and play risk-free cricketing shots. He tends to score with a decent strike rate too. Ruturaj has been the find of the IPL 2021 who rose above his ranks and became the captain of the Maharashtra team and consistently made it to the India A side as well. As of now, his success rate has been much higher in List A Career, where he is consistent and also makes his runs at a healthy strike rate. In the past one year, he is the second highest run-getter with an average of 78.66 in List A Career. His batting revolves around skillful touches and timing, rather than the power-hitting that you see in modern cricket. He has brought more to his and hasn’t stopped since the IPL began in April, which was later paused due to the upsurge in Corona cases in India. In the Ongoing Vijaya Hazare Trophy, He has scored two centuries, 136 off 112 balls and 154 off 143 balls in his last two innings. He has been in terrific form in 2021 and his scores speak volumes about him.

Indian cricket team has a lot of options when it comes to opening the innings but Ruturaj Gaikwad can surely anchor the innings for his country when called upon.
