PV Sindhu creates history yet another time and she enters the finals of the Singapore Open 2022 by defeating Saena Kawakami in straight sets. Sindhu won 21-15, and 21-7 to reach the finale of the tournament. This will be her maiden final appearance at the competition.
Sindhu was at her best in the semi-final round of the tournament and she seized the game in just 30 minutes. She refused to show mercy to her opponent and left Saena baffled. Saena’s frequent errors in the game made it easier for Sindhu to advance to the finals. Sindhu came into the match as India’s only remaining contestant in the tournament and comfortably defeated her Japanese opponent.
Sindhu came charging straight out of the gates as she got off to a brilliant start. She picked up quick points to get a lead, but the Japanese player wasn’t ready to surrender but the second half got so much better and easier for Sindhu. She trusted her judgments, made tough calls, and challenged the opposition by giving her all. Although Saena tried to make a comeback and got a couple of points, the damage made earlier was beyond repair.
Sindhu is now India’s sole hope at the Singapore Open after Saina failed in the semi-finals. She went down 13-21, 21-15, 20-21 to Japan’s Aya Ohori in a closely-fought match. A dominating performance from Sindhu is expected in the finals.
