Javed was first married to Honey Irani. The couple has two children, Farhan Akhtar and Zoya Akhtar. He is married to the famous actress Shabana Azmi now.
Javed Akhtar has been working in Hindi cinema for more than half a century now. He was born on 17 January 1945 as the son of the songwriter Jan Nisar Akhtar and Safia. His mother was an Urdu author and professor. His grandfather Muzhtar Khairabadi was also a well-known poet.
