Spider-Man: No Way Home’s official trailer will take your breath away. The over 3-minute trailer, which was released on Wednesday, depicts Peter Parker (Spider-Man), fighting multiple adversaries with all of his might. The teaser follows off where Spider-Man: Far from Home left off, with Jake Gyllenhaal’s Mysterio revealing Peter Parker’s true identity as Spidey in the 2019 blockbuster. Peter wishes he could travel back in time to safeguard his identity in the trailer. He asks Doctor Strange to create a spell to return him to his previous existence, where no one knew he was Spider-Man. Doctor Strange agrees, but Wong warns him that tampering with space and time is never a good idea. And that is precisely what happens.
Doctor Strange unlocks the multiverse, an infinite world of parallel realities where anything may happen, and botched up an extremely important spell and Parker manages to crack open the multiverse and unleashes a suite of villains from previous ‘Spider-Man’ franchises, including Willem Dafoe’s Green Goblin from 2002’s ‘Spider-Man’, Alfred Molina’s Otto Octavius from 2004’s ‘Spider-Man 2’, Thomas Haden Church’s Sandman from 2007’s ‘Spider-Man 3’, Rhys Ifans’ the Lizard from 2012’s ‘The Amazing Spider-Man’ and Jamie Foxx’s Electro from 2014’s ‘The Amazing Spider-Man 2’.
Peter seeks Doctor Strange’s assistance once more in returning the multiverse villains to their own realms, but it appears that Doctor Strange does not have a remedy for every situation. Peter Parker resolves to do everything he can to rescue the planet, even if it means endangering his own life because he is burdened with the responsibility of rescuing the world and the love of his life MJ (Zendaya).
While it has been widely speculated that, given the presence of earlier Spider-Man villains in the film, previous Spider-Man heroes Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield will also appear in ‘No Way Home,’ no such confirmation was provided in the teaser. The sequence in question is at the conclusion of the trailer and has Holland’s Peter Parker against three villains: Sandman, Lizard, and Electro. While the trailer leads you to assume that Spidey is fighting alone, a brief scene shows the Lizard being hit in the face by an unidentified assailant, all while Holland’s Spider-Man remains at a safe distance.
