The 2023 IPL auction has broken the record. The England all-rounder player Sam Curran become the most expensive player in IPL Auction history as Punjab Kings paid a staggering INR 18.5 CR.
Sam Curran made his IPL debut with PBKS back in 2019, he played 32 matches in the IPL so far, taking 32 wickets and scoring 337 runs. Three years ago, Curran made his IPL debut. Since then, he has distinguished himself with 13 wickets, 95 runs, and a maximum score of an undefeated 55.
Sam Curran broke the previous record, which was held by all-rounder Chris Morris of South Africa, whom Rajasthan Royals had purchased for $16.5 million in the IPL 2021 auction.
Simon Katich, a former all-rounder for Australia, spoke on the Star Sports program “Cricket Live” No surprises for Sam Curran. He’s had a fantastic 2022 around the world. He missed last year with his back injury but at 24 years of age, there’s a huge upside to him. He is a competitor and obviously, he’s played for Punjab Kings before so I think he’s a good pick for them”.
