Tesla is all set to start its operations in India in 2021 and will set up a manufacturing unit based on the demand, was said by the Union Minister Nitin Gadkari. The American elecric car maker is all set to enter the country’s automobile market.
According to a regulatory filing, the firm has registered Tesla India Motors and Energy Pvt Ltd with RoC Bangalore. The company is still unlisted private entity with a paid up caption of ₹ 1 lakh. As per the Registrar of Companies the directors of Tesla India are Taneja, Venkatrangam Sreeram and David Jon Feinstein.
India’s major automobile company Tata Motors denied typing up with Tesla for its Indian market. A Twitter user asked about the progress of company’s plan to enter India on which Elon Musk replied “Yea..Next year for sure”. Musk had, however, in the past too tweeted about Tesla’s entry into India.“Would love to be there this year. If not, definitely next!”. Musk said this on a Twitter query by a user in 2019.
The challenging regulatory environment, is one amongst the many reasons for not foraying into India when he cited the county in 2018.
