The Invitation, the upcoming horror film from director Jessica M. Thompson, has introduced a poster and trailer. Nathalie Emmanuel plays a young woman who accepts an invitation to a lavish wedding in the English countryside from a long-lost cousin only to discover that her bloodthirsty hosts have other plans for her. The story begins in a modest and relatable way. A New York City artist named Evie is searching for a sense of identity after the death of her mother and has no other known relatives, gets her DNA tested and discovers some long-lost relatives.
The Invitation is a vampire movie, so Thompson looked into the background of the genre and the historical folklore that served as its inspiration. For centuries, people have had an obsession with the dead.
The Invitation is executive produced by Thompson and Michael P. Flannigan, with Emile Gladstone serving as a producer. Joining Nathalie Emmanuel in the cast are Thomas Doherty, Stephanie Corneliussen, Alana Boden, Courtney Taylor, Hugh Skinner, and Sean Pertwee.
Its releasing on 26 August 2022. The trailer foreshadows the horror to come, setting the stage for Evie’s initial encounter with Doherty’s alluring stranger and a startling twist.
