The much awaited Renault Kiger has unlieved in India today. It will be launched globally soon and Renault has said it will be the most affordable car in the segment. The base price of the brand new Kiger will be less than ₹5.49 lakh according to Hormazd Sorabjee. Nissan launched the Magnite last year at a price of Rs 4.99 lakh but raised the price of the base model to Rs 5.49 lakh. It remains the most affordable car in the segment.
Renualt has ensured that the production version of the car has 80 percent resemblance with its prototype. The Kiger is based on a modified version of the CMF-A+ platform that also underpins the 7-seater Triber.
Not only the car gets sleek LED headlamps but squarish, ice cube-shaped fog lamps. The Kiger will share a lot with the newly launched Nissan Magnite and it is a crucial model for the manufacturer in the Indian market. Additionally the Kiger gets flared wheel arches to add a wide look. Even though the Nissan Magnite is based on the same platform which makes it look very different and more aggressive. The Kiger also gets a body cladding all around.
The company has clearly said that the Kiger will not be available with the diesel option even in the future It will be powered two petrol engines namely 1.0-litre naturally-aspirated petrol and 1.0-litre turbocharged petrol. Both the engine options will offer a 5-speed manual transmission. Renault also offers a CVT automatic transmission.
There will be quite a few outstanding features in the Kiger with a large In touchscreen infotainment interface with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto will be offered on top-end trims while rear AC vents and a slew of other comfort features will be offered even on lower trims. Not only this but it within the airbags there will be twin airbags. Additionally it will have speed alerts, reverse parking sensors, a reverse parking camera and probably even a 360 degree camera is likely to be offered on the Kiger.
