The Weeknd announces new album “Dawn FM”

Dawn FM will be released on January 7.

In a message he posted on Instagram last week, the Weeknd wrote, “Music can heal and that feels more important than another album rollout. Let’s just drop the whole thing and enjoy it with the people.” With this, The Weeknd announced the release of his new album, Dawn FM, on Friday (Jan. 7).

On Monday, the once-underground R&B singer-songwriter turned to social media to announce his upcoming release. He captioned a mysterious video teaser with snatches of new music, “New album: dawn FM / january 7th.”

Quincy Jones, Tyler, the Creator, Lil Wayne, Oneohtrix Point Never, and actor Jim Carrey will all be featured on Dawn FM in some capacity. The people were not given any more information. The Weeknd seems to smash an automobile and is dragged away by mystery hooded people in the melancholy minute-long clip. Following that, viewers witness an older version of the singer wandering about perplexed, followed by a spectacular sight of a blue light blasting out of his skull. The clip closes with a radio DJ announcing, “You are now listening to 103.5: Dawn FM. You’ve been in the dark for way too long, it’s time to walk into the light and accept your fate with open arms.”
