Top three must visit places in India during Christmas

The whole year passes by with inhouse celebrations and festivities, but as soon as December hits the calendar, Christmas carols and winter winds bring back the spirit of travelling. Adding to this rush, are the marvellous Christmas celebrations at these locations of India that cannot be missed.

Goa

Goa, with its well-known Portuguese presence and Catholic population is the best place to celebrate Christmas in full swing. The scenic houses lit up with lights, decoration with poinsettia flowers, and the night long carol tunes are game changers for bringing back the festive energy at the end of the year. Adding to this list are the magnificent beaches of Goa (Anjuna, Palolem Beach, Calangute) and their ravishing parties.

Puducherry

Located at the south-eastern part of Tamil Nadu, Puducherry is also one of the places in India which is home to a moderate population of Catholics. The allusion of earlier French colonization at Puducherry can also be seen during this time of the year. But unlike Goa, the celebrations here are tranquil and melodic. Yet, the beauty of Puducherry churches and their services is something that should not be missed.

Shillong

Shillong enjoys its Christmas to the fullest with its compact Christian population. It also observes winters in its strongest element during December, which attracts less Indian tourists making it a perfect place if you want to enjoy your Christmas away from the crowds. Shillong also offers local gospel music along with traditional cuisine during this time, giving more reasons to consider it for a winter vacay.
