Long Lake, also known as Lonar crater, is a notified National Geo-heritage Monument, saline, soda lake, located at Lonar in Buldhana district, Maharashtra, India. Lonar Lake was created by a meteorite collision impact during the Pleistocene Epoch. It’s so exciting to visit a place where a meteorite crashed thousands of years ago and made the third largest crater on the planet and Lonar will surely fulfill that excitement of yours. The crater is a world heritage site and is said to be about 50,000 years old.
It is an escape to a peaceful place and a beautiful site to watch peacocks and this place should be definitely on visiting list if you are going to explore Maharashtra. The place also has a historical background as the tamarind trees that attract the peacocks here were believed to be planted by the Peshawas, the warlords of the Maratha Empire. This place houses thousands of Peacocks.
VIJAYDURG SEA FORT
It has creative craftsmanship and praiseworthy architecture, Vijaydurg fort was built in 1195, an era in which seafaring was barred by religion. The tough bastions of the fort meant that it was virtually impossible to conquer it without swimming through the sea as the shallow waters around it made it impossible for larger vessels to enter.
