Maharashtra is well known for some famous visiting places like Mumbai, Mahabaleshwar, Lonavla, Ajanta Caves, Aurangabad, Ellore Caves, Khandala, etc. But there are so many gorgeous places to explore and yet they are not that famous. So let’s know about some unexplored places in Maharashtra.

LONAR


Long Lake, also known as Lonar crater, is a notified National Geo-heritage Monument, saline, soda lake, located at Lonar in Buldhana district, Maharashtra, India. Lonar Lake was created by a meteorite collision impact during the Pleistocene Epoch. It’s so exciting to visit a place where a meteorite crashed thousands of years ago and made the third largest crater on the planet and Lonar will surely fulfill that excitement of yours. The crater is a world heritage site and is said to be about 50,000 years old.

MORACHI CHINCHOLI

It is an escape to a peaceful place and a beautiful site to watch peacocks and this place should be definitely on visiting list if you are going to explore Maharashtra. The place also has a historical background as the tamarind trees that attract the peacocks here were believed to be planted by the Peshawas, the warlords of the Maratha Empire. This place houses thousands of Peacocks.

VIJAYDURG SEA FORT


It has creative craftsmanship and praiseworthy architecture, Vijaydurg fort was built in 1195, an era in which seafaring was barred by religion. The tough bastions of the fort meant that it was virtually impossible to conquer it without swimming through the sea as the shallow waters around it made it impossible for larger vessels to enter.

CHIKHALDHARA


Unusually known as the best tourist place in Maharashtra, Chikhladara surprises the tourists with its extraordinary beauty.
It’s the only coffee plantation estate in Maharashtra, it is one of the most beautiful and yet offbeat destinations in the state rising to a height of 1080m. It is close to Amravati and Chikhladara can be reached by road very easily and is a haven for solace seekers and one of the best offbeat places in Maharashtra.

TARKALI BEACH


For those who love the view of the sea, Maharashtra has a treasure full of surprises and among them is the 8km long undeterred coast of Tarkarli. The place where the Karli River meets the Arabian Sea marks the start of the beach.
It’s truly a spectacular coastline, the waters of Tarkarli are clearer than any other beach and can see to a depth of almost 20ft. It is emerging as a hotspot for water sport and adventure activities like Scuba Diving, snorkeling, and even jet skiing, Tarkarli is a gorgeous destination that is a delight for every beach lover.

MATHERAN


It has vast hills filled with never-ending green vegetation, trees, wildlife, flowers, and the beautiful chirping of birds. It is located close to Mumbai. It gives a pretty view of the surrounding mountains, Matheran can be easily reached. No cars or two-wheelers are allowed in Matheran so isn’t it the best place for trekking.

NANDED


While everyone visits the famous Golden Temple in Amritsar, but did you know that the Hazur Sahib in Nanded is an important center for Sikhs. The small town has a beautiful Gurudwara must-visit for those who want to soak in the calmness and beauty offered by Gurudwaras. A trip to Hazur Sahib along with an experience of the langar is a must-do for the experience.

KAAS PLATEAU


Kaas plateau is one of the most beautiful and exciting places to visit in Maharashtra. Everyone should at least visit once at this beautiful site.
Every year from August to September, the plateau has 150 varieties of blooms that are all wild. Donning hues of every color the plateau itself becomes a blanket of flowers woven intricately together at your very feet.
This destination has been awarded a UNESCO World Biodiversity heritage hotspot for its myriad and diverse blooms that are a treat for the sore eyes.
