Honorable Finance minister Nirmala Sitharaman declared a ₹ 2,23,846 crore budget for the health and well-being sector of India during the budget session. The current budget allocation for the same is 94,452 crore. The new allocation amounts to about 137% of the previous numbers. The minister in her speech clarified the nature of impact COVID-19 had on the Indian economy and public life and cemented on the fact that Health and well being will be among the 6 pillars of Atmanirbhar Bharat.
During her Budget speech, she said “Healthy India along with other sectors will further strengthen the sankalp of nation first”
